The steamin' hot Mississippi River Distilling Company bottle labels are heating up the pages of a brand new coffee table book called Labels and Bottles of the Craft Spirit Industry.
The book highlights the surging craft distillery industry in the U.S. by featuring the label and bottle designs of more than 200 distillers.
"There is nothing that outwardly conveys the identity of a craft distilled spirit more than its label,” it says in the book’s description on Amazon. "It is the calling card that gives the consumer a hint about what is inside the bottle. And it speaks volumes about the individuality of the distillery, the distiller who made it, and why,”
The featured designs were for Mississippi River Distilling Company’s River Baron vodka and River Rose gin.
"We’re very excited to have the designs featured among so many other great brands,” said Erik Meade, director of client services for MindFire Communications. "Designing spirit labels involves walking a fine line between strict federal requirements and creative execution. We feel the vodka and gin labels capture the heart and soul of the distillery’s brand in a powerful and unique design that draws on the region’s history and local flair.”
This is one of many industry nods the designs have received. In addition to winning a Gold Addy, the design has been featured on industry blogs, and will be featured in the August 2011 issue of Chois Package.
